Whether creating worlds of fantasy from the imagination, building abstractions of gesture and color or realistically rendering the world around us, every artist seeks to present in concrete form the results of their foray into realms of perception where words seem inadequate. I take the recognizable as the point of entrance into that other realm. I believe that by examining what we call the real world and rendering it with fidelity, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. My paintings are ventures into areas of the imagination and perception that are as unpredictable and delightful to me as I hope they are to others.
